Hi Cloudberry community,

Leonid and I would like to start a discussion about kicking off
regular Apache Cloudberry community meetings, and share a proposal for
how we can get started.

As the project continues to grow, we believe it would be valuable to
have a regular forum where contributors and users can:

* Share project updates and ongoing work
* Discuss technical topics and proposals
* Improve collaboration across different regions
* Make it easier for new contributors and users to get involved
* Discuss priorities of work and the challenges you've encountered.

# Proposed meeting format

Below is a proposed initial setup for the community meetings. This is
intended as a starting point and is open for discussion and
adjustment.

* Frequency: Every two weeks (biweekly, on Fridays)
* Duration: 45 minutes
* Language: English
* Participants: Open to everyone (not limited to PPMC members)
* Meeting tool: Google Meet
* Format:
 - Agenda prepared and shared in advance
 - Volunteer host/moderator for each meeting
 - Notes (and recordings if applicable) shared after the meeting

# Proposed meeting time

We propose the following regular time slot: 08:00–08:45
UTC/11:00–11:45 UTC+3/16:00–16:45 UTC+8.

This time should work reasonably well for contributors currently
active in Europe and Asia, where most of the development activity is
concentrated today.

We acknowledge that this slot may not be ideal for contributors in
North America. As the community grows, we can revisit the schedule and
adjust (or rotate) meeting times to better accommodate a broader
global audience.

# Meeting documentation

We suggest using the following Google Docs template for meeting
agendas and notes, so anyone can review and comment asynchronously:

# Next steps

We’d appreciate feedback from the community on:

- The proposed biweekly cadence
- The proposed meeting time
- The use of Google Meet
- Volunteers for hosting (I'm happy to host the first meeting; Leonid
can host the next one.)

If all looks good, we will follow up with:

- A calendar invite
- A Google Meet link
- A draft agenda for the first meeting

Looking forward to your thoughts and to building this together.

BTW, as a reminder, to follow ASF governance, any formal decisions or
votes will continue to take place on the mailing list. The community
meetings are meant to support discussion, coordination, and broader
participation.

Best,
Dianjin Wang
