H Chiradeep, It is fixing an issue with an older change but the main cause is to generalize and centralize the handling of broadcast uris, which will be used for adding the possibility to host vpc gateways on sdn networks. I have this functionality on a 4.1.1 clone at Schuberg Philis' and am porting it to master now.
