Well, the same apply for COB-INF name. ;-) META-INF --> MANIFEST.MF are inside jars and it exists before the WEB-INF --> web.xml relationship. To me, this means Sun did a mistake in java and fixed it in servlets. Best Regards, Antonio Gallardo
