Of course you can build pipelines without Cocoon, but the idea is to be
able to easily reuse our existing components, aggregators, transformers,
serializers, etc.
Hmm... some of them are already packaged as indipendent Java libraries
(Batik, Xalan, etc.); moreover, it seems to me like eating the skin and
discarding the pulp of Cocoon... but to a non-Cocoon sort of a guy it
may look a sensible option.
