Subject: Hi dev@,
Following up on the budget discussion thread [1] and the earlier "thinking bigger" conversation [2], I've drafted a proposed working group structure for how event support and speaker travel grants could actually work if we get budget approved. Two PRs are up for review: https://github.com/apache/comdev-working-groups/pull/47 https://github.com/apache/comdev-site/pull/233 The first (comdev-working-groups) adds wg-events/ with: - Charter and structural rules - Speaker travel grant process with a scoring rubric - Copy-paste email application forms for meetups, sprints, summits, and materials reimbursement - Evaluation criteria (scored 0-3 on 5 dimensions) - Private SVN data format for tracking grants - Committee operations howto - Helper scripts for maintaining the ledger The second (comdev-site) adds shadow pages on community.apache.org with the public-facing application forms and criteria. These pages are not linked from anywhere yet -- they'll go live only if/when budget is approved and the mailing list is created. TO BE CLEAR: None of this is approved or active. There is no mailing list, no budget, and no committee. This is just a proposal for how the machinery could work. I'm looking for feedback on: - Does the process make sense? - Is the scoring rubric reasonable? - Are there obvious gaps or failure modes? - Would you volunteer for the evaluation committee? Discussion here on dev@. PRs are for the content itself -- if you want to suggest specific wording changes, comment there. --Rich [1] https://lists.apache.org/thread/vzd9ztspl9yk6vhp8dt7knnxykmk4wb4 [2] https://lists.apache.org/thread/hjcdms64lfgopffwg0gcrk3b164kylsn --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [email protected] For additional commands, e-mail: [email protected]
