Hi Comdev members, and to Alina.

Your application for an ALC in Islamabad has been approved!

Next Steps: (I apologise but this email has become quite long :D )

There is of course some documentation to read and an area in the Comdev
Confluence wiki that belongs to your ALC to look after and fill out.

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/spaces/COMDEV/pages/451974627/ALC+Islamabad

This page is for general information on the Islamabad Chapter - currently
that will be yourself, you are ALC Lead for Islamabad, and Pushmina is the
other member to add to that page.

You will want a mentor, I would volunteer , but I have not been a part of
any ALC Chapter before so I will try and find a willing Mentor for you to
help you get started.

There are other wiki pages related to your ALC which are sub-pages of the
above

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/spaces/COMDEV/pages/451974629/ALC+Islamabad+Events
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/spaces/COMDEV/pages/451974631/ALC+Islamabad+Reports
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/spaces/COMDEV/pages/451974633/ALC+Islamabad+Team+Meetings

Hopefully those are self-explanatory but do ask if you need to.

Again in the wiki , this page

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/spaces/COMDEV/pages/123899294/ALC+Chapters

lists other chapters in other cities/countries. I encourage you to take a
look around those pages for some ideas on what these other ALC groups do,
and what information they provide on their pages.
I would go as far as to suggest contacting some of the people listed in the
other ALC pages, especially those listed as (Chapter Lead) to get some
insights on what they do.

One last piece of 'paperwork' I want to point out for now , is your
reporting page

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/spaces/COMDEV/pages/451974631/ALC+Islamabad+Reports

Starting next month October, and for every 3 months you should aim to put
in a report of activity, however small or large, of what the ALC members
have been up to. Initially this will just be setup stuff, and trying to
organise your first meeting. (We could also push your first report out to
November if you feel next month is going to be too soon, nothing much to
report)

An example from another ALC on what they report on, as an example is ,

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/spaces/COMDEV/pages/158863417/ALC+Warsaw+Report+March+-+June+2020

But you can use your own reporting style.

For the successful start and continuation of your ALC Chapter, I strongly
suggest
you fill out these reports, so that the rest of us can see how things are
going,
whether you are doing great or whether you might need some assistance in
some
areas. It also tells me that the ALC is at least active and current.

As well as emailing this mailing list [email protected] you can also
talk
with us on Slack the-asf.slack.com instance in the #alc slack channel -
please come
join us there even just to say hello! - And other ALC members may be around
for
any advice with any luck. (I see you have an account there already, we may
need
to send an invite out to Pushmina)

I feel that this is enough information for now. I hope you will be able to
locate a
suitable venue and get a meetup of some kind organised soon!

So again, congratulations. Let's make a success of this new ALC Islamabad.
