The on disk size of views seems rather outrageous and is probably a contributing factor to how long they take to generate. My raw JSON objects (10 million of them) size is 2GB, the .couch file size is 3.9GB and the view size was 27GB which compacted to 1.3GB. 27GB seems *way* out of proportion to the data in it as the post compaction size shows.
