What can I do to mitigate this? The documents are currently inserted in _id order. As a guess should I perhaps also order my documents so that the value emitted in a view (in most cases one value always from a key named "name") is also in sorted order? With some SQL magic during document generation should be able to do that. Perhaps CouchDB could have some sort of 'auto-compact' setting that for example does a compact on the view if more than 100MB would be saved. Would small incremental compacts make things faster vs one huge one at the end?
