I'd like to have it in trunk sooner rather than later so that it doesn't start
drifting too much. There are already commits coming in that affect this patch.
That said, I'd say its not a bad idea to have it wait to commit it until after
1.2.x is branched. Perhaps its time to start a thread on dev@ on any
outstanding issues that need to be resolved before we branch.
