The old process will also still work, but the whole affair is fairly
gnarly.

If you put the error message that was reported (Illegal
instruction: 4) into a search engine, you will get a few hints
for debugging. It should be easiest to get this set up with the
new setup which you should be able to reverse engineer from
https://github.com/janl/build-couchdb-mac/blob/master/build.sh
(sorry, a readme is TBD, just uses homebrew and then does a few
adjustments and packages things up).

What I’m confused about is that the build was on Mac OS X 10.8 so 10.9
should just be supported, yet the error message suggests it is not while
Eli says he’s on 10.9 and 64 bit, but I didn’t have time to look into
this further.

I’m also off with my JSConf EU duties until at least monday, so no
promises from my end until then, but I didn’t want to leave you all
in the dark until then. I’m sure between Andy and Dave at least you
should be able to figure this out :) <3

Sorry to leave you “hanging” though!

Best
Jan
