Thanks for the answers to my queries. I finally got OO to connect to MySQL by installing the
new MyODBC version 3.51.10 that was recently posted. That resolved many of the problems that I
was having in getting OO and MySQL to connect. The main issue is the difference between bundled
libraries and dynamic libraries on OSX. MyODBC 3.51.09 solved some, but not all the problems. Version
3.51.10 solves the bundle problem correctly for OSX. I was able then to connect to MySQL via either
database type of MySQL or ODBC. Both worked for me. I haven't tried the JDBC connector.
Thanks again for the help.

Hi Ed,
1) When you open OO and go to Tools/Data Sources and select your data source (I assume it's your MySQL database), what is the value displayed in the Database Type box ?
AFAIR (I'm not in front of the machine, its at work, and won't be in again until next week), the database type is MySQL, that is how I set it up. This then gives you access to the MySQL configuration tab.
2) In the Data Source URL box, if you click on the "..." button and then click "Organize" in the window that opens up, do you see your MySQL databases (one or more) listed ?
Again, I seem to remember that that was indeed the case.
3) If you double click on ODBC Administrator in /Applications/Utilities do you see 2 entries under the User DSN tab ? Are they myodbc and myodbc3 ?
No, I think there was only one entry, the myodbc3 one.
4) Finally, in your home directory ~/Library/ODBC in the text file odbcinst.ini, are the two libraries in the Driver and Setup lines a .so and .dylib, respectively ?
I must confess to not knowing the answer to that one, I haven't looked, but can check on it for you.
