Sounds cool looks like these guys are doing some good work here.
BTW where would these RPMs go?
Thanks for keeping us posted.

Being on sick leave, I now have some package work in progress:-)
tl-netty2-1.9.2
mina-1.0.0
apacheds-shared-0.9.5.3
apacheds-daemon-1.0.0
apacheds-1.0.0
as well as a related fix to
plexus-i18n-1.0
and the addition of
maven2-default-skin-1.0
maven2-classic-skin-1.0
maven2-stylus-skin-1.0
in order to get the "mvn site" working.
For JPP-1.7 there is a problem though:
mina (and with it all the rest) rely on javax.net.ssl.SSLEngine,
which is not available in java-1.4.2.
I am trying to patch everything such as to build a DS without SSL
support for JPP-1.7, and a full build for JPP-5.0.
And will need a few days more, of course.
Cheers,
Ralph

Wow - Awesome!
I'm cross posting this on the Directory dev list.
I know Emmanuel is very excited about this as well.
I'll have a look at the dependencies ASAP. I'm still
reading the Tomcat RPM to make sure I understand the
JPackage process, FHS layout, relinking, etc.
My long term goal is to have a Mojo (Maven Pojo) that
understands the JPackage RPM standards and generates a
compliant RPM. That way Tomcat,
James, and ADS, as well as other Apache projects can
just plug it in and have the JPackage automatically
generated.
Thanks again for letting us know. I'm certain the
whole directory team is going to love this.
Cheers,
- Ole

I feel very positively wrt James and DS.
I haven't looked into James, but already tried to
take steps towards DS.
Some Requires are already packaged or at least
advanced:
AFAIR
asn1 (1.7/generic/SRPMS.free)
mina (1.7/generic/SRPMS.free and
5.0/generic/SRPMS.free)
nlog4j (1.7/generic/SRPMS.free)
slf4j (1.7/generic/SRPMS.free)
as well as (started, unfinished, unpublished)
ldap-shared

Betreff: [JPackage-discuss] Tomcat Jpackage
Hi,
I'm studying the Tomcat JPackage to see how I can
make
similar packages for Apache James and Apache
Directory
Server.
Is there a reason for compiling Tomcat, rather than
just repackaging the binaries?
I was going to go with the latter, but figured I'd
ask
first in case there are any hangups that others have
experienced?
Thanks,
- Ole
