Emmanuel Lécharny created DIRAPI-471:
----------------------------------------

Summary: TLV.getSize() integer overflow bypasses parent
length-containment check
                 Key: DIRAPI-471
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DIRAPI-471
             Project: Directory Client API
          Issue Type: Bug
    Affects Versions: 2.1.8
            Reporter: Emmanuel Lécharny
             Fix For: 2.1.9

With default unbounded _maxPDUSize_, a hostile peer sends a root *SEQUENCE*
declaring length 16, then a child *TLV* declaring _0x7FFFFFFF_: _getSize()_
wraps to *-2147483643*, the containment check is bypassed, and the parent's
_expectedLength_ is rewritten to an overflowed value — the decoder proceeds
with a structurally impossible *TLV* tree instead of rejecting the *PDU*.
