Heres an even better idea... we could just have a whilelist approach and any mails from those not on the whitelist can be sent to moderators who can choose whether or not to pass them on.
I never trust spam filters anyway since I don't get many it is easy to just check them. The main thing is keeping your email off the internet. Anyway I would be happy to help moderate the list.

Just a thought: is there no way to make THIS list discard at least the
obvious spam automatically, and still remain open? Can't messages be
passed through an antivirus and a spam eliminator before being accepted
on the list?..
