Shane Curcuru commented on DI-29:
---------------------------------

Question: How, *specifically*, does the group plan to send out the survey
announcement?  There's a big difference between merely sending an email to
[[email protected]|mailto:[email protected]] and attempting to contact
all user@ or dev@ lists at all projects - both in terms of how you send the
mail, return address, and how carefully you need to edit the email.

Ensuring [operations@ |mailto:[email protected]]knows when you're going to
send the survey would be useful, to ensure other officers (like infra and
press) know about the survey.  Note also that experience shows sending an email
to all user@/dev@ lists can result in a small number of "Why the heck are you
spamming us" replies, no matter what your topic is.  (Emailing all user@/dev@
list goes to tens of thousands of addresses)

> The main purpose of this survey is to gather feedback from all existing ASF
> contributors about the current level of diversity and inclusion, including
> education, age, socio-economic status, and gender.

> Feedback expectations:
> * Initial requirements: Please remember that this survey is designed to take
> between 15 and 20 minutes with up to 20 or 22 questions.
> * Deadline: Feedback is welcome until -Friday Oct. 18th, anywhere on Earth
> (AoE)- 6pm UTC 20th October.
> * Format: The expected format of the feedback is by comments in the working
> document. There is an alternative that is directly suggesting changes to the
> text, however this procedure is not recommended because the text becomes
> difficult to comprehend with increasing numbers of unmerged suggestions. If
> you would like to propose an alternative wording (e.g., totally change the
> way a question is worded), please use the comments for this.
> * Context: If you think we're missing an important topic, that we have not
> considered any specific detail or any other consideration, please leave this
> specified as a comment in a place that seems most relevant to you. This may
> affect any of the main areas of the survey and be a higher level discussion.
