I'm not a technical writer, but I have to disagree with this. For many
people on the lower end of the computer literacy spectrum, having screen
captures that show how things are done are very reassuring and user
friendly. I was involved in the last couple of years in training people
(generally not very computer literate) on converting to OpenOffice.org
from MS Office, and having a lot of pictures is in fact very helpful.
Not that everyone referring to something like the Migration Guide are
low in computer literacy, but many probably will be.
