I'm a bit late on the doc status email this month. Sorry about that everyone. I do want to try and get out a summary email once per month.
January was a busy month on the Wiki. We upgraded the Wiki engine from MediaWiki 1.11.1 to 1.13.3. The upgrade went fairly smoothly - only a couple things had to be tinkered with after the update. This brings the Wiki up to the most current version of MediaWiki... but as always there are new releases on the way, and MediaWiki 1.14.0 will be out soon. I hope to move to that release as quickly as possible. There are some changes in 1.14.0 that will be helpful with the Doc Project Wiki books. more on that when I know the plan. The big news though... in case you missed it... Jean Hollis Weber is now sharing the Documentation Project lead duties with me. I think this is going to make the Doc project a lot more lively :-) The Documentation Wiki page redesign was put on hold after the MedaiWiki update because one of the extensions we were testing with that redesign doesn't want to work correctly now. I hope we can get started on that again in the next week or so. One of the big projects I am working on is the Developer's Guide in ODT and ODF. I have exported the whole book off the Wiki and assembled it into a single document, and it's huge... about 1750 pages. It still needs a LOT of work to get it into good shape though. I am keeping track of the problems and hiccups along the way and hopefully I will be able to simplify the process for future releases of this document. The ODT is live, and you can see the current status of what I'm doing on it here: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Wiki_Books T.J. Frazier has been poking around in the Wiki documentation and has been working hard on cleaning up the missing bits discovered along the way. Thanks for that TJ! Keep asking those questions on the list, your work is much appreciated. :-) To everyone else who has been tinkering on the Wiki docs... thanks, and please keep at it. Send a message to the mailing list to let us all know what you are doing, ask questions... or just chatter about the changes you've made. The Wiki is huge, and we don't all notice the little changes. It's nice to hear about the projects, big or small, that we are working on.
