Hi, all,
IMHO, the output of the new {{Key}} wiki template[1] is light-years
ahead of our convention for representing key-strokes (Ctrl+Shift+..., in
text), in terms of instant reader comprehension, and for "pretty", too.
The question is, do enough contributors agree, that we are willing to do
the work to use it?
The template was contributed by our friends in the Russian-language
section. The documentation is (so far) only in Russian. But notice that
the function design is so elegant, and the documentation so well
structured, that it is easy enough to figure out how to use it, just by
"looking at the pictures".
The obvious target is the How-Tos and FAQs, where "instant
understanding" is at a premium, and we expect less-sophisticated users.
If we decide to use this in the "Guides" section, we will need to extend
the technology to Writer. This should be possible, since it is all done
by character formatting, and all the special characters are in the Deja
Vu fonts. Autotext? Macros? If the Writer entries are done in a uniform
way, I can convert to the {{Key}} format in my Notes/Tips/Cautions
clean-up code.

For another example, see:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Dashboard/Wiki_Editing_Policy#List_of_Existing_Documentation_Templates
{{Key}} is the very last entry in that long table.
So, what do you think?
