I have checked with same scenario and found retry seems to be working fine.
In case of user workflow failure, the fail-post processing action will be
triggered and during retry, once the user-workflow succeeds, it will trigger
succeeded post processing.
Not sure what went wrong in your case if I am not wrong. Can you add any
further information from the logs?
