Btw, how come EDIT is not available in Confluence 'by default' ??
We don't
want to stop people from fixing docs by such administrivia.
Our "space" is currently setup like this:
- Anonymous users are only allowed to view pages.
- Registered users get the right to comment on pages and create
attachments.
- Registered users in the "felix-users" group have full editing
rights.
- Registered users in the "felix-admins" group can also administer
the space.
Anybody can become a registered user, and although it is a small
obstacle, I think it's quite acceptable to have people register. It
does seem to keep our site free of spam currently (which is a concern
to me). Also, I think in general, if you want to contribute to the
site, adding comments is a good first step, because it allows the
author of the page to review such comments and merge them.
Becoming member of the "felix-users" group is a matter of asking. If
you want to contribute more, just say the word.
We might be a bit more restricted with Confluence than some other
projects (as far as I'm aware there is no official policy on how we
should deal with rights) but not all projects use Confluence to
create their website so I think a bit of caution is justified here.
