Agreed about letting the user be in control.
With regards to default, I've had this argument with Peter Kriens numerous
times, although I was generally on the opposite side of the argument. Peter
feels the framework is in an inconsistent state after an update and that a
refresh needs to be performed at some point to get it back to a consistent
state. I don't agree with that sentiment, but I accept that it requires an
expert to understand when it is or isn't ok to refresh.
Thus, as a default, I think it makes more sense to refresh, since that will
generally get you back in a reasonable state, even if it ends up refreshing
multiple times.
