It is unclear to me how moving the code from Apache Aries to Apache
Felix will in reality help. If there are active members of the Apache
Felix project who are interested in helping out Apache Aries, why
couldn't they just join the Apache Aries project? This would also be a
clear indicator of who and how many people are actually willing to
support this.

As there currently is a discussion and work in Aries which modules to not
continue I think we can provide a list of supported modules to Felix.
I would also be fine to move all and clean up later though.

Hi Christian
Thanks for starting this discussion.
Are we discussing moving all aries modules or only some modules ? By
module, I mean aries proxy, blueprint, subsystem, ...
Personally, I'm fine to move "all" and clean after.
Personally, I don't have any objection if we are confident enough to
have the resources to maintain and release these modules (as part of
Felix).

Hi Felix community and especially PMC,
in Aries PMC we recently discussed about only few people being currently
active. As apache board was concerned if we can still provide backing for
the project we did a roll call.
Result was that we have a few people still monitoring the project and
helping out when needed to get releases out but we got no one reporting
that they are fully active on the PMC.
So we discussed what to do and came to the conclusion that it would be
good
to join forces with Apache Felix project. As Aries is smaller in active
members we propose
to move repositories and active people over to Apache Felix.
Would Felix PMC be interested in this merger?
I first would like to get feedback if there is general interest. If yes
we
can discuss modalities.
Best regards
Christian
