zhangxing created FLINK-38954:
---------------------------------

Summary: Flink Benchmark Score Decreases After Upgrading JDK
Versions of Flink Engine and User Program
                 Key: FLINK-38954
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FLINK-38954
             Project: Flink
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Runtime / Web Frontend
    Affects Versions: 1.18.1
            Reporter: zhangxing
         Attachments: image-2026-01-21-15-56-21-514.png

For historical compatibility reasons, I compiled Flink 1.18.1 using JDK 8. Now,
I intend to upgrade the JDK version (to either 11 or 17) and want to test if
the performance improves after the upgrade—this will help me determine whether
the upgrade is meaningful. I chose to use the Flink Benchmark project for
testing; however, after conducting the tests, I found that many metrics
actually *decreased* following the JDK upgrade. I also checked the metrics in
Flink Speed Center and noticed the same issue (as shown in the figure below).

Is this situation normal? Or is my testing approach correct?
