Hi everyone, I would like to discuss a new Apache Flink 2.2.2 patch release. I can volunteer as the release manager.
Flink 2.2.1 was announced on May 15, 2026 [1]. Since then, the release-2.2 branch has accumulated these notable fixes: - FLINK-35661 [2] - Mini-batch aggregation can silently drop records. - FLINK-39964 [3] - Checkpoints after CLAIM restores can be unrestorable. - FLINK-40335 [4] - Hybrid Shuffle index corruption can cause job failures. - FLINK-40475 [5] - Event-time processing can stall after idleness. - FLINK-40504 [6] - Idle source outputs can remain inactive after resuming. - FLINK-40539 [7] - SQL Gateway responses can expose sensitive configuration values. - FLINK-40809 [8] - Outer joins can lose null-padded rows. - FLINK-40858 [9] - Non-equi joins can mishandle key-only deletions. The branch comparison [10] and Jira 2.2.2 issue list [11] provide the full scope. Before cutting a release candidate, please advise whether these items need action for this release: - FLINK-40648 [12] - Prometheus label collisions can drop metrics. - FLINK-40657 [13][14] - Fetcher state can cause memory growth. - FLINK-39789 [15] - Avro logical types can be misread. - FLINK-40883 [16] - Non-time OVER accumulators can become corrupted. - CI [17] - Default (Java 17) / Test (module: core): LocalRecoveryTest.testStateSizeIsConsideredForLocalRecoveryOnRestart errored. Please let me know if there are any other issues we should consider before cutting a release candidate.
