Gavin commented on FOR-972:
---------------------------
Yes, Jira already has an XML file, from clicking the XML link in the browser,
but this is a manual process, then you have to filter it and then you have to
insert whats left into status.xml, all a manual process.
Jira can export (via email etc) this XML - and filter it to our needs, and do
it automatically whenever someone closes an issue.
We can then use this resultant XML file to add the required info as an <action>
entry into status.xml.
I think this would save a fair amount of work, especially when people forget to
do it and one has to trawl through all
Issues for the last 6 months and add them manually.
I do not know however, how much work is involved in getting it transformed and
inserted into the status.xml file
in the correct place. (The transform should not be a problem)
At least if we have the exported XML file we are reminded immediatly and can
c+p the
transformed file directly without alteration until / if an automation of the
insert-into-status can be done.
Does anyone think this can/can not be done, reasons?
> Export Jira Issues as they are resolved/closed so they can be imported into
> status.xml

> Jira can be configured to export XML backups/files and can be further
> filtered.
> I would like Jira to export automatically a Jira Issue as it is
> closed/resolved.
> The exported data would be filtered further to only contain relevent fields.
> This XML file can then be used/imported or transformed with XSLT to
> automagically
> add an entry into status.xml.
> Somebody with Jira Admin status of Forrest needs to check if XML Export is
> enabled
> and possibly go further and log an Issue with Infra > Jira to get the
> appropriate
> export enabled.
> I'm on Atlassian Jira Mail List so I know it is possible (The filtered export
> part I mean)
