Hi Jürgen,
it seems that we have a problem here. The design of the scripting framework doesn't aloow to use it via UNO but it provides a Java interface only. In the past we were able to reference the ScriptingFramework.jar by luck even nobody has really thought about it. Now that isn't possible anymore.
Why? What is the cause and the reasoning?
i think Stephan has already ansered this
He clarified that this behaviour was intentional (so it was not a mistake for which one would. file an issue).

What would be interesting to learn is what the general philosophy behind this behaviour is (e.g. which class loaders do exist, what policies do they apply). Only then, would it be possible to really assess the overall picture (and maybe even learning that everything is sound and very clear).

Anyway, I will try (just tight on time right now, so it'll take some time) to package the DEV300/m24 ScriptingFramework.jar into the ScriptingProviderForooRexx.jar to see whether that makes a difference. (But if it does, it certainly does not look like it is o.k. as the very same DEV300/m24 ScriptingFramework.jar is already installed!)
it should be only a workaround
Well, it does not make a difference. (But having learned that the problem could be resolved in the meantime this is thankfully not a problem anymore.)

It would be interesting to learn about the reasons, motivations, such that one would become able to understand (and maybe question) these decisions.
well, it's sometimes quite easy. We are all busy and the work have to be done. Code freeze for OO.org 3.0 was last week and issues have to be prioritized. I saw it as a minor issue that of course affects you but probably not too many others. There is no special reason and i would like to see it get fixed for OO.org 3.0. We will see.
As you know, what is a minor issue for one may be a big issue for another one. In this particular case you may be right, but it could also be, that others could have been bitten by this (once OOo 3.0 went GA, everyone who tries to add a scripting language to OOo via its scripting framework).

Maybe there is an opportunity someday to talk about some of these things over a beer or two...
:)
