Hello community,

This is a hard email to write, as I did not think we would be in this
situation when we launched Geode back in 2016, but this is the situation we
are in. I think we have given enough time after losing the 'corporate
sponsorship' and still have not seen much traction. A few data points:
- No releases since September 2022
- CI framework has not recovered after moving from sponsored hardware
- Minimal traffic on dev/user mailing lists
- Outstanding security issues which we have no one to fix

As of now, Geode is on a trajectory to have to move to the Apache Attic, a
place where projects go when they have reached an end of life. I am writing
this to the DEV/USER lists of the Geode community to see if we can get more
volunteers to help with all aspects of the community from docs and CICD
framework to fixing issues and creating new features in the code. We will
take any amount of willingness to help keep Geode as an active project, but
we are not sustainable at this time.

Please respond to this thread if you are wanting to help in any capacity
with the project. I will keep this 'call for volunteers' open until July
22, at which point the PMC will begin a vote to move to the attic if there
is no significant increase in community development.

Best Regards,

Mark Bretl
Geode PMC Chair
