I can share my experience with Apache Bigtop. At first we simply started a #bigtop channel on Freenode and that was good. With time, a younger hipper ones of us migrated to Hipchat. Both are ok (Geode's Hipchat is still in a weird state -- but it'll be a matter of time to resolve that) the biggest learning from the Bigtop experience is that whatever you do -- don't have both. Stick with one. Thanks, Roman.
