   Ok. Thanks for your advices.
   Maybe we can do the following both things at the same time.
   1: keeping the lower copy with the original one when loading in Oo. Using 
the lower one to draw in the screen and the origninal one to save, print or 
other output devices.
   2: providing an option for the user who need not the high-res image. When 
the image is inserted, ask the user whether hold the original resolution or use 
the downscaled one. If they select the second choise, all the image after this 
one will be downscaled automatically.

   Of cause, we should think about the details of two things carefully. If you 
agree with this, I will discuss with our customers, colleagues etc. and give 
you a particular project.

Exactly. Given sunyinan's requirements, probably the former.
