Or, if you use any rpm based popular distribution and seeing the problem, I assume you are using one of SuSE flavours, you can just install the stlport library from one of my repositories found here: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/fstrba:/stlport/ And your PDF extension will register and work like a charm.
