Hi all,

I'm don't know, whether the things I'll describe are bugs or intended.

I've noticed, that the text, which you can enter to a shape, is no
longer horizontal.

Draw a diagonal line, press F2 and enter text. Notice the text follows
the line and is no longer horizontal. Is that a new feature? I'm not
glad with the behavior, because it I cannot set the text to horizontal.
Up to OOo3.2 the text is horizontal and I can set it to follow line
using fontwork. So this new behavior restricts my layout.

As already noted in Your reply, this is as it always has been. A line is always interpreted as horizontal line with a rotation.

Now draw a polyline starting with an diagonal section, for example
something like /\. Press F2 and enter text. Notice that the text has the
direction of the first section. That is really bad. If you look into the
'Position and Size' you see, that the whole object is rotated. I surely
do not want a rotated drawing. And again there is now way to get an
horizontal text.

Now do this: Draw a closed triangle via polygon. Enter text. The text is
horizontal. The object is not rotated. Then draw a two section polyline
with diagonal start and close it. You get a rotated object. It is bad
that this two workflows lead to different objects.

I have compared now a StarOffice 9 (a) and a DEV300 m93 (OOO3.4.0), (b). Indeed, (b) interprets a non-filled (non-closed) polygon in te same way a single line is interpreted; it's first line segment is taken as object rotation. (a) behaves different in that point and only handles open polygons with a single line as roated objects.

Thus, there has been a change in this point between versions, thanks for finding it. I also opt for the behaviour of (a) as the standard behaviour.

Please write a task for me so ths will not get lost. Not sure for the target, since with the massive changes on the way with transformations (You know :-)) i will have to change things like this ones anyways internally, so fixing it right now may interfere with ongoing changes.

I've tested this with OOo3.2, OOo3.3RC7 and with DEV300m95.

Kind regards
Regina
