Jacob,
regarding your interest in developing a new toolkit or chrome for OOo, I am wundering about what the abstraction level will be and if we can reuse something already available. Personal being a friend of domain specific languages, I would favor XUL or other (XML) GUI description languages. Do you have an opinion on that?

UPDATE: I will be regularly blogging my progress and what I find at http://silveronion.blogspot.com There are a variety of methods for getting the blog including the following:
Atom/RSS feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/SilverOnion Google Group: http://groups-beta.google.com/group/SilverOnion The blog itself: http://silveronion.blogspot.com
If there's a better way to have somewhere that I can post what I'm doing as I do it, without filling a newsletter with stuff that doesn't belong on the newsletter. I'm open to suggestions.
NOTE: I will be posting to the [email protected] regularly. The blog is just to make it easier to keep track of my work and what I'm doing while at the same time giving anyone that wants it a view into what I'm doing. I'll always post when: I have questions that need to be discussed I've reached some goal or other I have some major update I want feedback on something or other I want help with something
I would also love to have any help actually coding this beast, as it is a large project to tackle. If someone wants to help me I'd love to give them posting rights on the blog, which then proliferates to the other outputs.
Also, commenting is allowed on the blog, so if anyone thinks I should post something here from my blog, I'd be glad to post it. leave a comment and I'll take note of them. If anything turns up as controversial (based on comments received in the blog) I'll also post them here.
Thanks, Jacob
PS It'll probably be a few weeks before I can actually start coding the thing, as I want to make sure I'm familiar with things like UNO before I start. I want this to be as forward compatible and as easy to maintain as possible.
