Please expose TCP keep-alive (SO_KEEPALIVE)

It would be useful if it was possible to turn on TCP keep-alive
(java.net.Socket.setKeepAlive) for a connection used for long polling (aka
comet).
Some users these days are behind NAT routers that kill idle connections after
as little as 5 minutes. TCP keep-alive could be a solution to keep long poll
connections alive (and idle) longer than 5 minutes.
