Oleg Kalnichevski commented on HTTPCLIENT-1394:
-----------------------------------------------
Hi Ryan
I renamed the module to httpclient-win for now given it is more about Windows
specific code than anything else. There is still time to come up with a better
name.
Java 1.5 compatibility is a complex issue. I personally think that maintaining
Java 1.5 compatibility no longer makes any sense, but HttpClient users may not
necessarily share this sentiment. Once 4.3 is released I would like to run a
poll on the user list and depending on its outcome start a formal vote on
minimal JRE level on the dev list.

> HttpClient has made great progress in supporting NTLM and Negotiate, but the
> setup often requires considerable configuration. Using native calls, we can
> authenticate the current logged in user directly via windows with no
> configuration.
