Apparently there is movement in the Linux world to get TLS-capable
sendfile(), according to this Linux netdev post:

While it's still a bit away, getting this into httpd eventually would
be a nice combination of the current https mmap performance and
non-mmap error handling on IO errors.
From what I understand application support will be simple once openssl
(or equivalent) supports it, but the openssl/tls buffs can probably
answer that question with more certainty :)
