Thanks for raising this, Kevin. I agree it’s a blocker for the release.

I’ll work on the next steps to get out RC2. I appreciate you including a
long-term fix for this issue too!

Danny

Thanks Danny and Shawn for running this.

My vote is -1 because it looks like this RC cannot be published as is.

There's a circular dependency between `iceberg` and the new
`iceberg-property-macro` crate. `iceberg` depends on the macro crate, and the
macro crate has `iceberg` as a versioned dev-dependency. So `cargo publish`
can't package the macro crate without `iceberg` 0.11.0 already on
crates.io<http://crates.io>,
and we can't publish `iceberg` 0.11.0 without the macro crate. Publishing
manually hits the same error.

We had the same circular dependency issue with 0.5.0 [1]. The vote passed,
the publish failed, and we had to cut 0.5.1. I think we should fix it now and
cut a new RC.

I put up a fix here: https://github.com/apache/iceberg-rust/pull/3184. I also
added a
`cargo publish --dry-run` check to CI so we catch this on PRs going forward.
Once it's merged, we can cherry-pick to 0.11.x and cut RC2.

Also noticed `make test` from the tarball fails at docker-up, the Hive image's
apt repo has expired. This is also why the CI tests job is red on the tag
commit. #3174 on main fixes it, we should cherry-pick that too.

Thanks Danny and Shawn! I verified the release candidate on Linux x86_64
(Ubuntu 24.04). Ran through the checklist:

- [x] Download links are valid
- [x] Checksums and signatures are correct. SHA-512 matches; good GPG signature
from Shawn's key
- [x] LICENSE and NOTICE files are present
- [x] No unexpected binary files are included
- [x] All source files have ASF headers
- [x] Source archive matches git tag v0.11.0-rc.1
- [x] The project builds successfully from source (cargo build --all-targets
--all-features --workspace)
- [x] Full test suite incl. docker-compose integration tests
(minio/REST/HMS/Spark)

I also hit one flaky test.
iceberg-catalog-loader::table_rename_suite::test_catalog_rename_table_across_namespaces::case_1_rest_catalog,
which failed under parallel load with a server-side SQLITE_BUSY ("database is
locked") from the REST catalog test fixture's JDBC/SQLite backend. It passes
reliably when re-run in isolation, and the same test passes for all other
catalog backends, it is not a blocker.

Best,
Anoop

I verified the RC on macOS (arm64):

  - Signature (.asc): good signature from Shawn Chang
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>, verified against the KEYS file
  - SHA512 checksum: OK
  - Source archive matches git tag v0.11.0-rc.1
  - License headers: 489 files checked, 0 invalid
  - make build: OK
  - make test: 2209 passed, 0 skipped
  - Python bindings (bindings/python): 17 passed, 2 skipped

Built with the pinned toolchain (nightly-2026-04-16).
  Thanks for running the release!
