Hi Daniel,
The Open Clip Art Library has thousands of public domain images we can
use. This project was started in part by OOo members for the *purpose*
of giving OOo a nice collection of clip art to include. However, my
efforts to get some of those images included in OOo have brought no
fruition. Even my proposal of a separate download where people could get
extra goodies like templates, clipart, photos and the user guides (I
made a sample page) was ignored. So, honestly, I'm not very hopeful that
*this* time anything will happen.
I've been talking (and others far before me as Kevin Hendricks or
Sophie) of this "goody bag" for some years ago
The first step was DicOOo (dictionaries), then came FontOOo (fonts)
Please note that they share the same design
Based on the IRC conf, i proposed to re-active the scripting project and
give some common tools to scripters (with the idea to help them starting
and also unify the dialogs/wizards). I'm actualy working on it, planning
and organizing different ways we would have to work on
It is obvious to me (but perharps I should have say more explicitelly)
that if we setup an efficient tool for end user, dealing with OOo2
packages for example, we will be able to handle more than scripts
(templates, gallery)
One of the idea with gallery was to propose a tool to end users to build
their own, importing images form various sources. One problem though
will be SVG handling, but i'm confident that things will evolve in this
area.
Creating dynamically a gallery, was why I requested an API for gallery
that Kay kindely set up (see IZ).
So things take time and thanks for recalling the requested tools
Now, including cliparts to OOo is not IMHO a good thing, as OOo is fat
enough. But a complementary/separate archive to deploy is obviously
possible (and who said an addon ? :) )
