Please let us know some more:
- What Windows do you use?
- What kind of JREs do you have installed (vendor, version) and where?
- When you delete the javasettings_xxx.xml. How much longer does it
take, until an applet or a wizard (letter) is displayed?

The moments I opened Tools|Options and clicked on Java (on the left tree)
openoffice freezes with no hesitation. I have also tried to disable java by
using the automaticly generated file (which said explicitly I should not
edit it, "javasettings_Windows_x86.xml"). That did not work either.
The "Use a Javva runtime environment" is checked and there is no entries in
the list of potentially installed JRE's. According to task manager
soffice.bin is around 37mg and uses no processing power.
Can anybody give me any advice, please.
