Thanks for your replay.

*About the permission to update status on JIRA: *I have permission to do
that when I have created the JIRA, but I don't have permission to do that
on JIRA's that were created by others (like Tony) and assigned to me.

Thank you for the insights on the other questions. I will work with pull
requests. I'm also able to link the pull request to the JIRA when I check
in using the ticket name as you suggested.
