Tobias Bocanegra commented on JCR-1242:
---------------------------------------
the references are persisted using the serializer because i simply forgot to do
this with the binding :-) and then after a while no one bothered :-). but if
course it would be better to use the binding as well.
however i agree with stefan that chaning the read/writerPropertyId() is a bit
dangerous. it might be used by third-party persistence manager, and it's not
private to jackrabbit core.
i would use a 'read/writeIndexedPropertyId()'.

> BudleDB PMs use currently Serializer class to serialize, deserialize node
> references. Those methods are unefficient, it use string representation of
> UUID, namespaceURI and localName.
> For UUID rawBytes should be used and for namespaceURI, localName
> namespaceIndex/nameIndex should be used to improve efficiency of
> serialization/deserialization.
