I wouldn't worry too much about external dependencies to such internal classes.
Otherwise, as Przemo pointed out, we'd essentially need to freeze all publicly
accessible code in jackrabbit-core.
I think we should do this as long as the change maintains backwards
compatibility with content in existing Jackrabbit repositories. Compatibility
with potential third-party persistence managers would be nice, but only if
someone bothers to write a patch for that.
