Julian Reschke commented on JCR-2406:
-------------------------------------
I wonder whether it's worth a try to develop a wrapper around 4.0 that
implements the 3.1 API? If that was possible, we could use maintained code
while keeping backwards compatibility for now. We could also deprecate the 3.1
based API in favor of the 4.0 one, so in a later Jackrabbit release we might be
able to remove the wrapping and the 3.1 dependency.
> Upgrade httpclient dependency to 4.0

> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: jackrabbit-jcr-server, jackrabbit-spi2dav

>
> Httpclient is one of these libs that tends to be pulled by another third
> party lib and often with conflicted versions (in a traditional environment
> contrary to OSGi).
> Upgrading from 3.0 to 4.0 allows applications to use both Jackrabbit and the
> latest release of HttpClient.
> As discussed in JCR-2389, this is a sensitive task as it can introduce
> regression.
