Agreed. So the plan would be:

* Jackrabbit 2.22 will be a maintenance branch, supporting Java 11 and servlet 
spec 4.0 (javax.servlet)
* The next stable branch (*) will require Java 17 and servlet spec 6.x 
(jakarta.servlet)

Q: 6.0 or 6.1? Does it matter a lot?

(*) Bikeshed: version jump to 2.5 or 3.0? (yes, that's only marketing)
