That comes via the Apache parent and we're on the latest v18.

v18 pulls 2.10.3

I found:

says minimum 2.10.4.

The amount of work to track down versions, then end up having our own version 
settings is not making it look attractive.

Release of Java9 is July 2017 currently.  Still a few months to go.
