Andy Seaborne commented on JENA-1268:
-------------------------------------

(To complicate matters, there is an unrelated problem with snapshot jars.
Hopefully, that can be flushed through.)

Since PR#194, the build is failing in Fuseki1 tests: after the
setDefaultHttpClient fix, the problem is closing of HttpClients after earlier
tests.

{noformat}
Rerun org.apache.jena.fuseki.TS_Fuseki
org.apache.jena.fuseki.TS_Fuseki
org.apache.jena.fuseki.TestAuth
graphstore_with_auth_01(org.apache.jena.fuseki.TestAuth)
java.lang.Exception: Unexpected exception,
expected<org.apache.jena.atlas.web.HttpException> but
was<java.lang.IllegalStateException>

This works locally for me:
https://git1-us-west.apache.org/repos/asf?p=jena.git;a=commit;h=2cb13230ba5621135867cc4b618cb4e937a45e49

We agree that "one shot" HttpClients are not a good idea.

I think that {{setDefaultHttpClient(null)}} should do one of:
* reinstall the system default.
* install a basic HttpClient that "just works". Maybe
{{HttpClients.createMinimal}}.

that is, sets the system into a known, working state.

> sets up authentication.
> A recent change has caused this to not work : setting
> HttpOp.setDefaultHttpClient(null) causes a later NPE.
