N.B.
To create the distribution and test JMeter: "./gradlew build -Prelease -PskipSign".

JMeter 5.5 requires Java 8 or later to run.

Checked the Signatures, Sources to the Tag and ran some short tests under Linux with Java 8 and Java 17 (with Nashorn added to the lib directory -- without module path)
