Hi all, I'd like to open a discussion about refreshing the Apache JMeter logo, and I think JMeter 6.0 is the natural target to ship it with.
Two facts that motivate this: 1. Our current logo is ~10 years old. In September 2025 the Foundation retired the feather and adopted a new brand built around an oak leaf ("#ASFNewLeaf"), and now emphasizes "The ASF" as its shorthand name. Projects are encouraged (not required, and with no hard deadline) to spotlight refreshed project logos featuring the oak leaf: - https://news.apache.org/foundation/entry/introducing-the-asfs-new-logo - Brand assets & guidelines: https://apache.org/foundation/press/kit/ So the feather that currently sits in our logo is no longer the Foundation's mark. That gives us a good reason — and a good moment — to refresh JMeter's identity, ideally in time for the 6.0 release. We can do (any opinions are welcome): (a) Minimal update: keep the current JMeter logo concept but swap the Apache feather for the new oak leaf, matching the ASF brand guidelines. (b) A fully new logo: rethink the mark entirely for 6.0. (c) Something in between: modernize the existing design while incorporating the oak leaf. So these questions: - Do we have volunteers in the community (or friends/designers) willing to propose logo drafts, as @Felix did for 3.0? - Are we open to using an AI image tool to generate a few starting concepts we can then iterate on? - Any other ideas?
