GoldSpike is stored on RubyForge. I can make the change once
setCurrentInstance is available in JRuby.

I imagine the JRuby Mongrel code on RubyForge will need tweaking too,
and a few other projects, however as long as everyone is aware of the
change, they can adjust their code to work with it.
Cheers,
Robert

I'm unfamiliar with Goldspike, so I will need some pointers to fixing
it :) Am I correct in assuming that it is responsible for managing
threads from a pool for Rails? And is it in the jruby trunk? If so,
should I make the fix to have it set the current instance or should I
leave that to someone else?

Where in the source do I setCurrentInstance() for Goldspike? I would

I'm looking forward to your updated diff. I would like to profile it
a bit on a few tests and see if the performance impact is as minimal
as I hope. Since it provides a general-purpose way to detach/reattach
objects, it would be generally useful. So the plan for the moment is
to go forward with it.
