Arturo Bernal commented on JSPWIKI-529:
---------------------------------------

Measured on current master with the parser, one line at a time. The closing
marker works when a space, a line break or the end of the line follows it: a
color style, then short, then the closing marker, a space and cake gives a span
around short followed by the plain word cake. When a letter follows the closing
marker directly, as in short/%cake of the report, the parser reads the letters
as the class name of a new style: the output is the span with short and an
empty div with class cake inside it, and the word cake is lost, which matches
the report. The line with short%%change behaves like that by the syntax: two
percent signs followed by letters open a style with that class name, so change
disappears; with a space after the two percent signs (short%% change) the style
is closed and change stays as text. So the second case of the report is
explained by the syntax, while the first one, a closing marker directly
followed by letters, looks like a real quirk of the parser: from reading
handleSlash and handleDiv, the closing marker goes through the same code that
opens a style with a class. I did not change anything, and I leave the ticket
open.
