Ankur,
thanks for the KIP. I did not read up on the Jira ticket yet, but what
you propose on the KIP sounds like KIP-1146
(https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/KAFKA/KIP-1146%3A+Anchored+punctuation)
which we completed for AK 4.2 release already.
Are you saying that KIP-1146 did already resolve the Jira, and we did
not realize it, and thus did not close the ticket?

Hi everyone,
I would like to start the discussion on a proposed KIP related to KAFKA-13678.
This idea follows the suggestion in the JIRA discussion to extend the existing
scheduling mechanism with a time-shift parameter rather than introducing a new
abstraction. The goal is to allow globally aligned scheduling while keeping the
API simple and consistent with current semantics.
The draft KIP is available here:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/KAFKA/KIP-1293%3A+Add+Time-Shift+Parameter+to+Kafka+Streams+Punctuation+Scheduling
The JIRA is here:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-13678
Looking forward to your thoughts and suggestions.
Thanks,
Ankur
